Hoy les muestro una entrevista con mi gran amigo y diseñador hindú Kunal Kaushik, entrevista la cual fue realizada en 2012 y que comparto con ustedes para que conozcan un poco más de su vida y su obra; actualmente se encuentra vacacionando en Los Angeles, California en estos momentos. 

Sin más por añadir, les muestro esta entrevista, realizada por el bloguero Alam Zakirul de la revista Career Track.

 

Un graduado de la prestigiosa Facultad de Bellas Artes de la EM Universidad de Gujarat, Kunal Kaushik, un reconocido artista y diseñador volvió a su casa y rechazó en Assam tantas ofertas que llegaron a su forma de trabajar en las áreas metropolitanas. Y por qué no incluso ha nombrado a su propio sello que comenzó tiempo atrás, 'Mystic Assam", que según él es" básicamente una plataforma que celebra la belleza y el potencial de nuestro Estado sin explotar y la región, y tiene como objetivo mostrar a la mundo la riqueza incomparable de la tierra ".

 

Para Kunal, Assam no es una "tierra de las balas y el terror, ya que ha sido mal interpretado y mal entendido", sino una "tierra de inmensa telent y recursos".

Un artista y un autodidacta diseñador de moda, Kunal cree en el trabajo duro y creen que es su deber solemne de trabajar para la modernización y la popularización de los tejidos locales.

 

"Siento una tremenda sensación de responsabilidad y la urgente necesidad y el deseo de contribuir a., el desarrollo, el crecimiento y la promoción de nuestros tejidos locales que son todos coronada con sus cualidades únicas y riqueza ", dice el diseñador de moda que también ha introducido muchos una nueva cara al mundo del modelaje en el Estado.

 

De hecho, muchos de estos modelos bajo su dirección son caras conocidas en la escena de la moda local.
Kunal también ha estado trabajando duro para crear un mercado mundial de los tejidos indígenas de la tierra. "Va a recorrer un largo camino en el impulso de la economía del Estado, así como la mejora de las condiciones de trabajo de los tejedores que son bendecidos con la magia de sus dedos", dice, y agrega: "la creación de la demanda de estos productos dará lugar a un aumento de la productividad y por lo tanto , mejoramiento de condiciones de vida del artesano en particular y la sociedad en general ".
Kunal ha hecho muchos programas de modas en Assam, así como en la capital de la moda de Nueva Delhi y ha hecho talleres en Calcuta con diseñadores como Sabyasachi Mukherjee y Raghuvendra Rathore. Sus diseños son ampliamente publicadas en todos los magazincs y periódicos locales principales y también se han presentado en Femina. También ha realizado numerosos espectáculos para la caridad. También ejecuta su arte ganado y diseñar Instituto en Guwahati. "Es un privilegio y un honor ser un diseñador de esta región. Yo sólo sueño de hacer Assam y sus hermosas telas en un nombre familiar", dice el diseñador.

Zakirul Alam: Buenas tardes y que mejor elogio para el nuevo año que viene?
Kunal Kaushik: Muy buenas tardes a ti también y todos los lectores un muy Feliz Año Nuevo. Dios bendiga a todos.
En cuanto a mi experiencia en la moda se refiere, es genial y muy inspirador. Siempre ha sido mi sueño de convertirse en un diseñador de moda y fue sólo a causa de mis pasiones dura - de trabajo y la fe en mí mismo y mis potenciales que sin Traning formal en el diseño de moda. Hice mi nombre en el mundo de la moda, por supuesto, mi graduación en Artes Aplicadas de la prestigiosa Facultad de Bellas Artes, Universidad Maharaja Sayaji Rao, Baroda, Gujarat me ayudó mucho. El camino no fue nada fácil. Me esforcé mucho, enfrenté dificultades de dinero y problemas. Pero nunca perdí mi visión y mi foco estaba siempre en mi sueño, y mi perseverancia pagué. Y creo que si una persona puede trabajar duro nadie puede detenerlo. Pero a pesar de toda la lucha, me fui a través de mi experiencia y que siempre ha sido muy significativo y realmente disfruté de cada pedacito de ella.

Z. Alam. : ¿Cuál es el escenario actual de diseño de moda en la Región Noreste.?
K.Kaushik: Yo diría que realmente nos acostumbramos a trabajar duro para hacer crecer esta industria. Aunque, tenemos gente muy talentosa y diseñadores en esta región, no hay mucho contribución al crecimiento colectivo de la industria de la moda como tal. Nosotros, en el noreste tiene mucho que ofrecer. Creo que nororiental puede ser la capital de la moda de nuestro país si todos trabajamos para ello. Por supuesto, el Gob. tiene que jugar un papel muy importante. También los medios de comunicación de nuestro estado y el NE tiene mucho potencial, pero todo es mentira latente.

Z.Alam: ¿Crees que haya algun desafío de los países occidentales de diseño para el Diseño de modas de la India?
K. Kaushik: Los diseñadores de la India, tienen un gran potencial y talento, y yo no creo que haya problemas de los diseñadores de los países occidentales. No veo ninguna razón por la que siempre debemos mirar a los países occidentales de inspiración o diseños, cuando nuestra cultura india, nuestro país tiene mucho más que ofrecernos. Tenemos nuestra propia singularidad. 

Z. Alam: ¿Qué piensa usted acerca de la potencialidad de la moda-Diseñar en la Región NE si alguien desea seleccionar como una carrera?
K.Kaushik: El potencial de diseño de moda en el NE es tremendo. pero el trabajo de un designiers moda no es muy fácil, especialmente si usted es un diseñador de formularios esta región. Nuestra industria se encuentra todavía en una etapa de tal manera que tenemos que trabajar duro. Hay un montón de limitaciones es así, usted tiene que trabajar aún más duro.

Z.Alam: Nueva tendencia de diseño de moda en el NE ayuda a criar a la vieja cultura diseño de la región para el mundo entero. ¿Cuál es su comentario al respecto?
K. Kaushik: Con hechas a máquina tejidos modernos y artículos de marca y ropa de diseño desde el oeste que inundan nuestro mercado, nuestros diseñadores se enfrentan a una dura competencia. NE consiguió diversos grupos étnicos y todos estos grupos hae sus propias telas distintas únicos, estilo de ropa, unparralled en el mundo. Se refleja la herencia gloriosa cultura y la tradición de la nuestra.

Z.Alam: ¿Cuál es su propuesta para mantener el tiempo en la era competitiva?
K. Kaushik: Trabajo duro, y la creencia debe ser su potencial. Usted realmente necesidad de estar muy concentrado y sincero hacia su profesión. Y debe dar más del 100% en el mismo. Lo que es importante es tener tu propia identidad y un estilo único.

Z. Alam: Ser un buen diseñador de moda y coreógrafo, ¿qué piensa usted acerca de su propia existencia?
K.Kaushik: He recorrido un largo camino y con los años. He ganado muchas experiencias y todavía haciendo esto. Hay tanto que aprender todos los días. Pero siempre he mirado a mí mismo y mi sueño en busca de inspiración. Creo que usted necesita ser un líder y no un seguidor, pero ser líder no es fácil. He sacrificado mi vida personal para convertir mi sueño de ser diseñador de moda en una realidad.

Z.Alam: ¿Crees que nuestras mentes conservadoras están afectando en el desarrollo de diseño de moda en esta región. ?
K. Kaushik: Cada cosa lleva su tiempo. El cambio no es tan fácil. es una cosa natural. La gente toma tiempo para aceptar cosas nuevas, nuevas ideas, nuevos conceptos, nuevos puestos de trabajo o profesión. Pero con el tiempo, también estamos desarrollando. Nosotros, el pueblo de la industria, los diseñadores, los medios de comunicación (tanto impresos y electrónicos) tiene que hacer un montón de esfuerzo y contribución a hacer las personas conscientes y entender lo que la moda se trata.

Z.Alam: ¿Puedes hablarnos de una de su incidente más memorable en este campo?
K. Kaushik: Un momento que siempre aprecié es que me dieron el 'Premio al Mejor Diseñador "para mi creación de soltera que ha estado siendo muy destacado.

Z.Alam: ¿Cuál es el factor clave de su logro?
K.Kaushik: Mi creencia en mí mismo y mi perseverancia. Nunca me desanimo y yo en serio sigo la creencia de que si usted es honesto, sincero, trabajador, está obligado a ser exitoso. Así que usted sólo tiene que tener un sueño, y hacer realidad ese sueño.

A graduate from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts of M.S. University in Gujarat, Kunal Kaushik, an award wining artist and designer returned to his home Assam and rejecting so many offers that came his way to work in the metros. And why not he has even named his own label that he started sometime back, ‘Mystic Assam’, which according to him is "basically a platform that celebrates the untapped beauty and potentials of our State and the region, and aims to show to the world the unparalled richness of the land." For Kunal, Assam is not a "land of bullets and terror as it has been misinterpreted and misunderstood" but a "land of immense telent and resources".
An artist and a self taught fashion designer, Kunal believes in hard work and think it’s his solemn duty to work for modernizing and popularizing the local fabrics of variegated with rich motif." I feel a tremendous sense of responsiility and the urgent need and desire to contribute towards., the development, growth and promotion of our local fabrics which are all crowned with its unique qualities and richness," says the fashion designer who has also introduced many a new face to the world of modeling in the State. In fact, many of these models under his guidance are familiar faces in the local fashion scene.
Kunal has also been working hard to create a global market for the indigenous fabrics of the land. "It will go a long way in boosting the State’s economy as well as improving the working condition of the weavers who are blessed with magic in their fingers," he says, adding, "creating demand for such products will lead to increased productivity and thereby, betterment of living condition of the craftsman in particular and the society in general."
Kunal has done many fashions shows in Assam as well as in the fashion capital New Delhi and has done workshops in Kolkata with designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Raghuvendra Rathore. His designs are widely published in all the leading local magazincs and newspapers and have also been featured in Femina. He has also done many shows for charity. He also run his won art and design Institute in Guwahati. "It’s a privilege and honour to be a designer from this region. I just dream of making Assam and its beautiful fabrics a household name," says the designer.

Zakirul Alam : Good afternoon and best compliment for the coming new year ?
Kunal Kaushik : A very good afternoon to you too and all the readers a very Happy New Year. God bless all.
As far as my experience in fashion is concerned it is great and very inspiring. It has always been my dream to become a fashion designer and it was only because of my passions hard - working and belief in myself and my potentials that without any formal Traning in Fashion designing. I made my name in the world of Fashion, of course my graduation in Applied Arts from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayaji Rao University, Baroda, Gujarat helped me a lot. The road was not at all easy. I struggled a lot, faced money hardships and problems. But I never lost my vision and my focus was always on my dream, and my perseverance paid. And I believe if a person can work hard nobody can stop him. But inspite of all the hardshipand struggle, I went through my experience and it has always been very meaningful and I really enjoyed every bit of it.

Z. Alam. : What is the present scenario of Fashion Designing in the North-East Region.?
K.Kaushik : About the present scenario of Fashion Designing in North-East is I would say that we really used to work hard to make this industry grow. Although, we have very talented people and designers in this region, there is not much contribution to the collective growth of Fashion industry as such. We, in North-East has so much to offer. I believe that North-East can be the Fashion capital of our country if we all work for it. Of course the Govt. has to play a very major role. Also the media our state and the N-E has lots of potential, but its all lying dormant.

Z.Alam : Do you think are there any challenges from the western designing countries to the Indian Design ?
K. Kaushik : Indian designers, has got a lot of potential and talents, and I don’t think that there are any challenges from designers for the western countries. I don’t see any reason why we should always look to the western countries for inspiration or designs, when our Indian culture, our country has much more to offer us. We have our own uniqueness. Its just unparralled.

Z. Alam : What do you think about the potentiality in Fashion-Designing in the N-E Region if anybody want to select as a career ?
K.Kaushik : The potential of Fashion Designing in the N-E is tremendous. but the job of a Fashion designiers is not very easy, especially if you are a designer form this region. Our industry is still at such a stage that we have to work hard. There are lots of limitations so, you have to work even harder.

Z.Alam : New trend of Fashion Designing in the NE helps to bring up the old designing culture of the region to the world wide. What is your comment on it ?
K. Kaushik : With modern machine made fabrics and branded items and designer wear from the west flooding our market, our designers are facing a stiff competition. N-E got various ethnic groups and all these groups hae their own unique distinct fabrics, clothing style, unparralled in the world. It refllects the glorious culture heritage and tradition of ours.

Z.Alam : What is your suggestion to maintain the time in the competitive era ?
K. Kaushik : Hardwork and belief should be your potential. You really need to be very focused and sincere towards your profession. And should give more than 100% into it. What is important is to have your own identity and unique style.

Z. Alam : Being a good Fashion Designer and choreographer, what do you think about your own existence ?
K.Kaushik : I have come a long way and over the years. I have gained many experiences and still doing so.There is so much to learn every single day. But I have always looked to myself and my dream for inspiration. I believe that you need to be a leader and not just a follower and to become a leader is not easy. I have sacrificed my personal life to make any dream of becoming a Fashion Designers a reality.

Z.Alam : Do you think that our conservative minds are affecting in the development of Fashion Designing in this region. ?
K. Kaushik : Every thing takes time. Change is not so easy. its a natural thing. People take time to accept new things, new ideas, new concepts, new jobs or profession. But with time, we are also developing. We the people of the industry, the designers, the media (both print and electronic) has to make a lot of effort and contribution towards making the people aware and understand what fashion is all about.

Z.Alam : Can you tell about one of your most memorable incident in this field ?
K. Kaushik : One moment which I always cherished is that I got the ‘Best Designers award’ for my maiden creation that has been still very encourageing?

Z.Alam : What is the key factor of your achievement ?
K.Kaushik : My belief in myself and my perseverance. I never get discouraged and I seriously belief that if you are honest, sincere,hardworking, you are bound to be succesful. So you just need to have a dream, and make that dream come trues.
